2008 Vintages will winter quietly

December 3rd, 2009 by Toby

Although still not ready for release-the 2008 production was rife with challenges. With over 26 days of smoke in the valley, wine-makers were hard pressed to produce the softer notes that Pinot is classically known for.  At the end of it, production came in around 1500 cases.  The 2009 release will include one single-vineyard designate removed from the fire zone: the ever popular Oppenlander. Working diligently-Toby has also produced two new blends.  One comprised of Corby, Toulouse, and Oppenlander, and the other made with Corby and Toulouse.  More about these vintages in the next few months prior to release.

2009 Press Notes: Phillips Hill adds 3 new Vineyards to it’s repertoire

December 3rd, 2009 by Toby

The 2009 press began on October 20th. 28 tonnes of grapes were used this year, sourced from several new Medocino County AVAs. Introduced this year are Manchester Ridge, Wiley Vineyards, and Valenti. The 09′ vintage will also once again include Toulouse and Oppenlander grapes. Overall, we are impressed with the structure and potential in these new vineyards-and once again we are always impressed by the quality of our older ones. Look for more news on the development of these wines.
